The ports policy is a priority in Europe today. The European Community considers ports a key element in the European cohesion. Ports are a very important strategic infrastructures in terms of social, economic, territorial and environmental. In this sense, applying an integrated policy and European and national standards in environmental sustainability is an important opportunity. The main scope of the guidelines is objective is to propose an integrated methodological reference for the prevention and protection against environmental negative impacts connected with the achievements of port infrastructures.
