#Project
Supported by the GEF and implemented in partnership with UNDP Papua New Guinea and CEPA, SETIN continues to advance its technical support to the Papua New Guinea National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAP) process in Papua New Guinea, contributing to the ongoing review and strengthening of national biodiversity planning frameworks.
On 12 January, two key deliverables were formally submitted:
- Deliverable 2 – Inception Workshop Report, documenting the outcomes of the four-day NBSAP workshop held in Port Moresby, including the main discussions, preliminary priorities and stakeholder inputs gathered during the sessions.
- Deliverable 3 – NBSAP Gap Analysis, providing an initial assessment of existing policies, strategies and actions, with the aim of identifying gaps and areas requiring further alignment within the NBSAP process.
Together, these deliverables represent an important milestone in consolidating the baseline information and institutional perspectives needed to guide subsequent stages of the assignment. The Inception Workshop Report captures the foundations of the collaborative process, while the Gap Analysis supports a structured understanding of current frameworks, helping to clarify where additional focus and coordination will be required.
Building on this progress, SETIN SRL is currently preparing the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, which will define the approach for structured participation and coordination among relevant institutions, partners and interest groups. This step is essential to ensure that the NBSAP update process remains inclusive, transparent and informed by a broad range of perspectives, supporting effective integration of biodiversity considerations into national planning and implementation.
This work is being delivered by SETIN SRL through a dedicated team including Dario Cesarini, Gianluca Serra, and Jordan Emmanuel Bulo.
