PAN Life project – Natura 2000 Action Programme intends to produce a blueprint for the recovery of a bearable state of conservation of the regional Natura 2000 network, that is able to ensure an ecological and functional coherence and a long-term management. With a budget of 2,853,337 euros, of which 50% funded by the Life + Programme of the European Commission, the PAN project will help promote a regional strategy for the integrated management of the entire Natura 2000 network of Calabria. A financial plan for the management of the Natura 2000 network in Calabria which considers all sources of EU funding, national and regional, will be deployed and updated with the list of priority actions to be performed in the next decade. The strategy will also be able to ensure the necessary integration of the objectives of protection and management of the network and those of regional development tofether with a growth in employment, especially considering many critical current issues. The strategy will be shared and coordinated in order to meet the needs of all the stakeholders involved in a unified vision of the territory. The participation of citizens will give a considerable support in the scientific monitoring of a large-scale regional Natura 2000 network.
