In June 2025, SETIN completed and delivered the Design Verification documentation for the Definitive Design of Palermo’s new tramway lines. The work was carried out by Alessandro Piazzi and Riccardo Leone as part of the Technical and Economic Feasibility Design for the extension and enhancement of the city’s existing tram network.
The project aims to strengthen local public transport by developing new tramway connections integrated with the existing mobility system. It also seeks to support the regeneration and improvement of the urban spaces affected by the proposed interventions.
The verification service was carried out in accordance with Article 26 of Legislative Decree 50/2016, as amended. It assessed the completeness, consistency, reliability and regulatory compliance of the design documentation against the applicable legislation and the requirements established by the Contracting Authority.
The activities included a technical and administrative review of the project documentation and verification of consistency between drawings, specialist reports, bills of quantities and economic frameworks. The feasibility and tenderability of the proposed design solutions were also assessed.
Particular attention was given to regulatory, environmental and safety requirements, the identification of potential design criticalities and the preparation of verification reports to support the subsequent project validation process.
Through this multidisciplinary review, SETIN contributed to improving the quality, coherence and reliability of the documentation for a major urban mobility infrastructure project in Palermo.
