Strategic Environmental Assessment Screening Submission in Cisterna di Latina: Supporting Sustainable Territorial Development Through Environmental Planning

#Project

SETIN recently contributed to the preparation of the Preliminary Environmental Report supporting the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) screening process for a planning initiative in the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina, in the Lazio Region, Italy.

The assignment was developed by the technical team composed of Alessandro Piazzi and Riccardo Leone, who coordinated the environmental, territorial and planning analyses required to support an informed decision-making process.

The work focused on the assessment of the environmental, landscape and land-use context of the area, as well as on the analysis of consistency with the relevant regulatory and strategic planning frameworks. The study also examined the potential environmental implications associated with future territorial development scenarios, contributing to the identification of possible interactions between land-use change, environmental protection and sustainable development objectives.

Strategic Environmental Assessment plays an important role in ensuring that environmental considerations are integrated at an early stage of planning processes. Through SEA screening, public authorities and decision-makers can better understand whether a proposed plan or programme may generate significant environmental effects and whether further assessment is required.

By combining environmental expertise, spatial planning and sustainability principles, SETIN continues to support public authorities and private stakeholders in the development of projects that seek to balance territorial development, environmental protection and responsible land management.

This assignment reflects SETIN’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality technical services in environmental assessment, urban planning and sustainable territorial governance.
