SETIN contribution to GEF Projects

#New

As the GEF-8 cycle advances, the GEF-8 Corporate Scorecard (December 2025 edition) provides an updated, portfolio-wide view of progress across the Global Environment Facility’s priorities, tracking performance against GEF-8 targets, how resources are being utilized, and the implementation of key policies across projects approved to date.

Overall, the Scorecard highlights strong results, effective resource mobilization, and broad country engagement. It reports that GEF-8 is surpassing most environmental targets, with record progress in protected areas, ecosystem restoration, climate mitigation, and chemicals and waste reduction. These outcomes are supported by high co-financing, extensive country and stakeholder participation, and accelerated efforts in knowledge and capacity building.

To strengthen transparency and accountability, this edition introduces interactive result cards, enabling deeper exploration of progress across biodiversity, land, climate, and water.

Against this backdrop of accelerated global delivery, SETIN contributed to GEF-8 implementation as a Project Preparation Grant (PPG) implementation partner, supporting the successful closure of projects across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. This work focused on implementation support and targeted technical inputs to help advance project completion and strengthen progress toward outcomes in biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development.

SETIN supported the preparation of the following GEF PPGs in 2024 and 2025:

  • Small Grants Programme for Civil Society Organizations (Global)
  • Promoting and strengthening effective conservation of the Cantanhez Primary Forests in Guinea-Bissau (Guinea-Bissau)
  • Improving wetlands management for biodiversity and improved human-wildlife coexistence (Timor-Leste)
  • Enhancing transboundary fisheries management in the Lower Mekong Basin (Lower Mekong Basin)
  • Transforming productivity in Palau’s food systems through nature positive innovations (Palau)
  • Micronesia: Tourism Support for Biodiversity Conservation (Federated States of Micronesia)

These initiatives reflect SETIN’s ongoing commitment to supporting countries in delivering GEF partnership goals and strengthening environmental results through practical, implementation-focused support.

As GEF-8 continues to scale delivery across its focal areas, SETIN remains committed to supporting partners in translating global priorities into measurable progress on the ground.
